About Katia Smith

Kate joined The Agency Portugal family in 2023 and specializes in serving Lagos and its surrounding neighborhoods. With an international background and experience living and working in Sweden, Canada, and the United States, prepared Kate to well serve a culturally diverse clientele-fluently speaking Swedish, French, Arabic, and English. Kate’s professional journey began in the travel industry, where she worked as a travel agent and later as a flight attendant for Air Canada during her time in Canada. After relocating to New York, she transitioned into the world of entertainment, representing upcoming acting talents at a movie public relations firm, and later she worked as an independent producer.

 

Following her passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives, Kate completed a master’s degree in social work. She practiced as a case manager in both public and private organizations, as well as in the healthcare system. In this role, she assisted individuals and families in securing emergency accommodations, transitional or permanent housing, and long-term placements. Another important role in her social work profession was also establishing vital community partnerships to connect clients with rent assistance programs and low-income housing.

Kate’s diverse professional and international background, exceptional communication skills, and strong negotiation abilities have seamlessly transitioned into her real estate career. Her genuine passion for helping people, coupled with her personal and professional experience in relocation, drives her to go above and beyond in providing clients with the support and guidance they need to make a smooth transition into their next life chapter.
