About Sam Chapin

Sam has a passion for real estate, negotiation, and client service. Since forming the Gottesman Chapin Group with Dan Gottesman in 2015, Sam & Dan have sold nearly $500,000,000. They were among the top 1% of Engel & Volkers brokers worldwide with 2021 sales of $55,000,000.

Over the past 30+ years, Sam has bought, sold, and managed mixed-use commercial and residential apartment buildings in Seattle and Mercer Island. His experience as a commercial owner and manager is a key benefit to his services as a broker.

Sam has also practiced law for nearly 30 years. After graduating from the University of Washington, Sam earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sam’s legal career focused entirely on litigation: first as a civil trial attorney for a Seattle law firm, then as a King County criminal prosecutor. Sam has served as a pro tem judge, and has taught law for 20 years. Sam and his wife, Loretta, have two girls, a boy, and Labradoodle named Dory.
