Celebrating Easter at The Midnight Mission

March 29th, 2016

Last weekend was Easter Sunday, and while one segment of the population was perhaps contemplating what outfit to wear to church or brunch, just minutes away thousands of people in Downtown Los Angeles' Skid Row district wondered if they would eat that day. With the help of many volunteers on Easter Sunday, over 2,000 meals were enjoyed. The Midnight Mission celebrated it's 100th birthday marking it as the oldest human services organization in Los Angeles. Whether someone is living in poverty, has substance abuse dependency, mental health issues or is a victim of violence or human trafficking, Midnight Mission provides access to safe housing, food, health services, programs and resources which lead to a life of sobriety and self-sufficiency 365 days of the year.

"In addition to several local celebrities and athletes that made an appearance on Sunday, one familiar face at the mission I see year after year is the leader of the A-team, Mr.T himself. No gold chains were worn, just a endearing smile as he graciously engaged with the volunteers and the growing homeless community alike, as a live band performed in the background. I also had the pleasure of speaking with the newly appointed CEO, Michael Arnold who was thrilled with the turnout and continued ability to help those that are most at risk." -Tamara Mattox
