Chicago Build Day
Just two months ago we announced the launch of our Chicago Build Project and now, thanks to the generous contributions from DocuSign and Related Realty, we are ready for a Build Day!
On Friday, August 26th, Giveback Homes, DocuSign, and Related Realty will volunteer to help build safe homes for hard working partner families with Habitat Chicago.
The affordable housing project is located in the heart of the West Pullman neighborhood. Volunteers will work on construction-related tasks alongside future homeowners. With homes 5 through 8 under construction, the initiative will ultimately consist of 16 single family homes in the 34th ward, the largest geographical ward in the city.
Meet the Families:
- Homebuyers are Messay (MISS-SIGH) and Kenea, they have been in the homebuyer program for a little over year and have completed over half of their 12 homeowner education courses, and over 100 of their required 250 volunteer hours.
- They celebrated the birth of their first child just over a year ago, and are expecting another child late 2016.
- Messay’s mother is a Habitat for Humanity homeowner
- Hombuyer is Catherine Goins, a mother of three boys – 16, 7, and 9 months. They love to play games together, including Play Station, checkers, or other board games.
- Catherine is from a large family – she grew up adjacent to the West Pullman neighborhood. Several family members will live by her new home, including her grandmother, and she looks forward to hosting many family dinners once she’s moved in.
- With the help of family and friends, Catherine has nearly completed her required 250 volunteer hours.
We look forward to building in Chicago! Click here to donate to our Chicago Build and click here to join the Giveback Homes movement.

Wednesday, May 25th
Giveback Homes has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity, Chicago to help build a home for a local family in need!
Habitat Chicago has chosen to work in the West Pullman neighboorhood of Chicago, partnering with local residents to restore and build new homes. West Pullman is home to 30,000 Chicago residents, the largest urban photovoltaic solar plant in the country, the Major Taylor bike trail, a new branch of the Chicago Public Library, several public parks, the Salvation Army's Kroc Community Center, and more. Soon, several lucky Habitat for Humanity partner families will also call this neighboorhood home!
This summer, Habitat Chicago will be wrapping up homes 5-8, meaning they have almost completed half of the block! You can see the progress below.
With your help, we can contribute to completing the block with Habitat Chicago and helping a family in need. If you would like to make a donation, visit our Chicago fundraising page! Your donation is 100% tax deductible and will go directly towards building homes for families in need. #forsocialgood
Giveback Homes Members will have the chance to swing a hammer and actually help build one of these homes in August 2016. Join the movement if you'd like to join us!
