Ms. Strozier wants to own her own home because it will provide stability and more space for her family, and it will be a good investment.  She wants to have a garden and a back yard for the kids to play.  She is very excited about building her own home in the neighborhood where she grew up.

The Distinctive Atlanta Homes (DAH) real estate team with the Keller Williams Peachtree Road market center is continuing their pledge to help provide homes to families in need in the Atlanta area through Giveback Homes build projects and their non-profit partners. On Saturday, March 11th, 2017, the Distinctive Atlanta Homes team will come out to help build their third home in Atlanta with Habitat for Humanity, all to benefit Mr. and Mrs. Maddox and their 12-year-old son.

About the family

Ms. Maddox currently works as at a supply company, while Mr. Maddox drove trucks for over 40 years around the country and now is a retired truck driver.  Mr. Maddox is from Louisiana, where he survived Hurricane Katrina.  After the hurricane, he moved to Atlanta.  He met Mrs. Maddox when he went to the store to buy something for his friend.  Mr. Maddox said that when he saw her, he knew he would marry her. They did in fact, get married. One day, Mrs. Maddox called Mr. Maddox from church and said she was bringing home a surprise.  When she got home, she handed Mr. Maddox an infant who needed a home.  They loved the child at first sight, and a few months later, they adopted their son. They are very eager to have their own home, and they can’t wait to start building!

Atlanta, June 10, 2016 - The Distinctive Atlanta Homes (DAH) real estate team with the Keller Williams Peachtree Road market center has set a goal for 2016, to help 50 or more families with their Real Estate needs and to contribute $50,000 or more to Giveback Homes Build Projects and their non-profit partners.

Giving back to the community is a core value for the Distinctive Atlanta Homes team. With each real estate transaction, DAH is providing a portion of their commission to Giveback Homes Atlanta Build – the more homes Distinctive Atlanta Homes sells, the more homes they will be able to build for families in need.

Giveback Homes is a community of real estate professionals dedicated to this endeavor. In partnership with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, the group is fundraising towards the first Atlanta Build Day and creating a sustainable relationship between real estate professionals, homebuyers and sellers, and people in need locally and across the globe – 100% of every contribution goes directly to their Build Partners.

“The Distinctive Atlanta Homes team is a true leader in real estate and in social responsibility. We could not be more proud than to have them leading the movement in the Atlanta market and we’re excited to build with them on June 18th.” – Blake Andrews, Founder, Giveback Homes.

Giveback Homes work “hand-in-hand” with building partners to design and construct safe homes for families in need. It costs $5,000 to build a Giveback Homes house in Nicaragua. In contrast, the cost of just a “build day” in the U.S is $5,000. Building a home from start to finish in the U.S., through Giveback Homes and their Build Partners, ranges from market to market and typically costs between $150,000 to $300,000.

Distinctive Atlanta Homes encourages the real estate community to join this movement for social good. “Our ultimate goal is to donate enough to build a house for a family in need, put our boots on and assist with the building. So far, we have given over $18,000, which is on target with our 2016 goal of giving $50,000,“ said Sarah Chatel, Team Leader for Distinctive Atlanta Homes.
