San Francisco Build Day

On Saturday July 30th 2016, San Francisco members of Giveback Homes, will volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, San Francisco to help construct affordable housing. The project, Habitat Terrace, is the largest development of this type currently under construction in San Francisco and consists of 11 two-bedroom homes for households earning up to 60% of the area median income (AMI) and 17 three-bedroom homes priced to be affordable to households earning up to 90% AMI.  Future residents of the project are also investing their own sweat equity in the project.

“Real estate professionals work hard every day to help clients find their dream home and now they’re part of making that dream a reality for low-income families as well,” said Giveback Homes Founder, Blake Andrews, “Our goal is to turn the act of buying and selling homes into an opportunity for social good.”

Agents have been fundraising towards this Build Day by making donations after each closed transaction. To raise additional funds, local agents collaborated on a SoulCycle fundraising event with Million Dollar Listing San Francisco star, Roh Habibi.

“I want to make it a point to leave something good behind on this earth,” added Habibi, who is a Giveback Homes member.  “My goal is to help as many people I can with my own hands and money.”

The Build Day is made possible by the donation of real estate agents and is sponsored by PlanOmatic, a full service real estate marketing firm bringing real estate listings to live through interactive floor plans, professional photography, and full-service virtual home tours. Giveback Homes works with agents and real estate service providers on build days around the country for community outreach and a shared goal of creating more housing for those who are underserved.

Habitat for Humanity has already partnered with 11 homeowners for the Habitat Terrace homes. Below are stories of two of the chosen homeowners.
