North Group, a top producing team in Keller Williams Canada, will come together to help build a home for the Njoku family

North Group joined the Giveback Homes movement in June 2018 as the first Giveback Homes team in Canada and has already met their first fundraising goal towards a Build Day in Toronto. On Thursday, March 7th 2019, over 20 North Group volunteers will swing hammers and work hard to help build a home for the Njoku family. The team has been busy assisting their clients to help make this Build Day possible. Through every successful client experience, a donation is made towards the project.

Jane Njoku is a single mother working toward being a full-time teacher. She also spends her weekends working a second job - twelve hour shifts at a time - to support her family.

“I work hard for my children, so they can have all the opportunity in the world to reach their full potential,” said Jane. “But as they grow older, our current home becomes more and more crowded, which is holding them back.” 

Their family’s current home is far too small for their growing children. Jane even shared that her eldest son developed back problems because they can’t fit a proper bed in their home for him. On top of that, the building is frequently infested with bugs that make their way inside the family’s unit. As an aspiring public school teacher, Jane stresses the importance of education to her children. But it’s difficult for her kids to get the sleep they need at home to excel in school. As a mother, this is a difficult reality for Jane to face. Even working a second, and at times a third job, she couldn’t afford to move her family to a better living space - until she learned about Habitat for Humanity GTA.

“This Habitat home will allow my children and I to live a happy and healthier life together,” said Jane. “It will help launch them to adulthood, and it’s my way to leave a legacy for them. I’m proud to soon call myself a Habitat homeowner.”
