The Northrop Group Partners With Giveback Homes For Second Annual Volunteer Day at Sheridan Square

Local Realtor and Giveback Homes Advocate Brings Community Together For A Good Cause

Denver, Colorado. July 26, 2018 -- Jessica Northrop, head of the Northrop Group and Realtor® with LIV Sotheby’s, brought together her real estate community to help build a home for a family in need. Jessica partnered with Giveback Homes, the premier social good real estate platform, and Habitat for Humanity Denver, for the second year in a row. Northrop’s team came together on June 9th, 2018, to work on part of the affordable housing project in Sheridan Square, Denver’s largest Habitat for Humanity project.

“I’m so proud to be a Giveback Homes member,” said Jessica, explaining her work with the organization. “Two years ago, I traveled to Nicaragua with Giveback Homes to build a home for the Garcia family. That trip changed my life and showed me how much is possible when people get together and give of themselves. I’m thrilled to continue my work here in Denver, my hometown, and build to help a local family.”

Sheridan Square is located on a former elementary school site in the city of Sheridan. Habitat for Humanity plans to build 63 energy efficient homes over the course of four years, housing approximately 130 adults and 225 children.

Northrop and team helped work on the future home for Tesfaye and Kasech. The couple works hard to provide for the future of  their five-year-old son. Tesfaye drives busses, often working overtime, and Kasech works as a cashier. Tesfaye and Kasech feel stuck in their apartment due to skyrocketing rental rates in Denver. Their complex has pests, neighbors are loud and smoke so much that their apartment is unsafe for their young son. The family is eager to get out of their current situation, and thanks to a donation from The Northrop Group, Tesfaye and Kasech are one step closer to a new, safe home.

“I’m lucky to be able to guide so many of my clients on their homeownership journey,” adds Jessica. “It means so much to me to be able to help a family who might not otherwise be able to have a home of their own here in Denver.”

"Jessica’s heart and determination are amazing,” said Caroline Pinal, co-founder of Giveback Homes. "She worked so hard in Nicaragua and as a Giveback Homes member she’s consistently helped fuel our mission of solving the global housing crisis.
