Denver Agent Pledges to Assist Families Needing Safe, Affordable Housing Locally and Internationally
Giveback Homes, the social good movement in real estate, has partnered with the Northrop Group and Compass for a Build Day on Friday, August 9, at Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver's Swansea Homes, located at E. 44th Avenue & Columbine Street in Denver. Jessica Northrop, of the Northrop Group, will lead the effort along with Compass’ General Manager, Danielle Wilkie, and Sales Manager, Heather Bustos, in building homes in the Elyria Swansea neighborhood. Twenty agents and team members from Compass and the Northrop Group will also participate in building homes alongside future Habitat for Humanity homeowners.
“Jessica understands the need for affordable housing in Denver and throughout the world and is committed to doing something about it. We’re grateful to have her as an advocate for Giveback Homes and proud of the impact she’s made in the lives of so many,” said Giveback Homes Cofounder Caroline Pinal, who will also be at the event.
Since 2016, Northrop has supported Giveback Homes’ mission to provide safe and affordable housing to communities in the United States and Central America. She traveled to Nicaragua in 2016 to build homes for a family living in a structure made of scrap metal, wood, dirt floors, and over-crowded conditions. Northrop has since funded the building of two more homes for families in Nicaragua. Friday’s Build Day marks her third of supporting affordable housing for local families.
“My goal every year is to fund a home for a family in need internationally and fund and volunteer at a Build Day here in Denver. It’s important to donate money and we do, but it’s equally important to help build homes in our community,” Northrop said. “Real estate professionals should be community leaders, and we are working toward helping everyone gain access to safe and affordable housing both locally and abroad. These build days allow us to connect our clients with our community and directly impact those in need.”
Habitat for Humanity is building 32 homes in the Elyria Swansea neighborhood. These houses, consisting of three and four bedroom duplexes, will take the collective work of more than 15,000 volunteers, and be the future home of more than 144 adults and children. This event has 20 volunteer spots available.
This event is the first Build Day with Compass and the 83rd U.S. Build Day for Giveback Homes. The event takes place from 7:50 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Volunteers will be provided with lunch. To support this Build Day, please visit donate.givebackhomes.com/compass.
