Jessica Northrop Builds Home in Nicaragua for Hardworking Family in Need
Since joining Giveback Homes in 2016, Jessica Northrop has funded four homes for families in need in Nicaragua and has hosted four Team Build Days to support affordable housing in Denver.

Azucena and her family now have a safe place to call home thanks to Jessica Northrop!

Thanks to a donation from Jessica Northrop, a family of five will soon have a safe place to call home in San Rafael del Sur, Nicaragua.
Meet the family:
Azucena del Carmen wakes up at 4:00 A.M. every morning with her 23-year-old daughter to prepare and sell fish they’ve caught along with other food items, like cabbage salads, and sodas. Together, they sell these foods to earn about $171/month. In the afternoons, they walk to church together, still selling whatever they have left from the morning. At 51 years old, Azucena has suffered from blood pressure and kidney problems, and recently recovered from COVID. There are five people living in the house: her husband, 56 years old, who suffers from kidney failure and because of this disease, had to leave his job and travels every week to a hospital in Managua to undergo hemodialysis. Together, they have three children (25, 23 and 15 years old).
Azucena works hard and doesn’t let anything stop her from achieving her dreams and helping her family survive and thrive.
