August 25th, 2021

In March 2020, The Oyler Group became the first real estate team to join the Giveback Homes in Cincinnati. Despite a global pandemic, The Oyler Group worked hard to fundraise for a Team Build Day to support affordable housing. On August 25th, 2021, Scott Oyler and his team were finally able to roll up their sleeves and help build a home for a single mother of two in The Queen City.

Meet the family they are helping:

Tyleah is the mother of two daughters named Alijah and Aria. Alijah enjoys listening to music, baking, and spending time with her friends. Aria loves reading, nature, animals, watching the Disney channel. Just like her big sister, Aria enjoys spending time with family and friends. Tyleah is currently employed at Cincinnati Public Schools as a substitute teacher and Bayley Place as a Nurse Aide. She first found out about Habitat over 17 years ago from a friend. She had applied but did not qualify at that time. In the summer of 2020, she expressed how her neighbor told her to reapply for the program again. Now she is becoming a Habitat homeowner and is very grateful and excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity.

“We come from a family of low incomers who was not taught about equity, higher education, homeownership, but we know love”. – Tyleah

Owning her own home will be the change agent for her family. Tyleah hopes that building and buying this new home will motivate the rest of her family to strive towards being a homeowner and not settle for renting. Tyleah voiced how owning a home is a “major growth lesson”, that will build her skill set by learning to do lawn care, landscaping, and be her own landlord for home maintenance.

We are grateful to Scott, Heather and the entire Oyler Group Team for donating and volunteering their time to help make this story possible and for helping change lives #forsocialgood. Learn more about their work at www.oylergroup.com.
