Giveback Homes and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Partnership Kicks Off With Build Day In Lynwood, CA

Giveback Homes, which is dedicated to turning the real estate community into donors helping to reduce poverty around the globe, has joined forces with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. The first “united build day” in Greater Los Angeles on February 27 enlisted Giveback Homes’ donors as volunteer builders for a day, pounding nails on a project their contributions helped to fund.

“More than 20 generous Giveback Homes’ members will gather at the construction site to donate their day. By building with their own hands the home that their contributions have made possible, they are transforming a family’s life. That’s a memory-making achievement and an exciting start for Giveback Homes, which only launched last fall,” said Giveback Homes founder Blake Andrews.

Giveback Homes’ first Habitat for Humanity build in the U.S. took place on February 27 in the City of Lynwood, California, where Habitat For Humanity is currently constructing seven new homes. On site, Giveback Homes’ members teamed up to participate in a full day of building activities to work towards creating a brand new affordable and sustainable home for a local hardworking, low-income family.

In 2011, when Andrews was working at TOMS, he went on a Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip to Nicaragua. This visit was his inspiration for becoming a social entrepreneur, to help lead the charge in making the world a better place, one transaction at a time. In the case of Giveback Homes, the entrepreneurs are the real estate community: realtors, mortgage brokers, commercial agents, homebuilders and interior designers. And Andrews is using his vision to turn every homebuyer and seller into a humanitarian.
