The Mazzo Group Builds 16th Home for Families in Nicaragua

September 15th, 2022

Thanks to a generous donation from The Mazzo Group, Leyma and her family in Nicaragua now have a safe place to call home. This is the 16th home made possible by The Mazzo Group.

When Leyma and her husband found out they were going to have triplets, tears began to flow from her eyes. She was happy but also concerned. “How would we feed, raise and support three babies when we don’t even have a safe home?” she thought.

Her triplets, Milagro, Fernanda, and Alejandra were born prematurely and spent 41 days in the hospital. When Leyma was finally able to bring them home, she would rock them all in a hammock while simultaneously cooking fried pork to sell on the streets. Today, the triplets are nine years old, and Leyma has been able to secure a spot in a nearby market to sell her fried pork. Her stand is called, “Las Trillizas” which means “The Triplets.”

Livinng Conditions Before: A structure made of rusted metal, wood and plastic. Leyma’s brother was letting them live there while he was away working in a different region.
