The Beginning of a New Home For Santana
UPDATE:
May 5th, 2017
We had a chance to catch up with Santana, and her sons Brandon and Frank. Santana has been working hard to continue growing her business out of her home, she's saving money to buy material to build more rooms. Brandon continues to be the smartest kid in his grade and still wants to be engineer. His brother Frank loves geography. They both love that they feel much safer in their new home.

Just like that, we are fundraising for a new, safe and sustainable home for another well deserving family. Please read on to get to know Santana and why it means so much to provide her and her family a new place to call their own.
Santana Tercero, 48, is the sole carer of her two young sons, Franklin (11) and Brandon (9). The boys are great students who enjoy going to the local elementary school while Santana's highest form of education is just that, elementary school.
Not having a high school degree didn't stop her though, as she opened and managed her own business. Santana improvised a small restaurant within her house; she cooks and sells plantain roast, enchiladas, tacos, and others items which bring in $77 per month for her family. The old wooden kitchen is inside and releases nonstop smoke inside the house and towards the rooms, which has caused her vision problems. Santana, Franklin and Brandon's current home is made of construction stone and boards, rusty zinc, wooden doors, a dirt floor all with no windows.
Santana hopes that a better structure will be the key that will lead her and her sons out of a life of poverty. By donating to Habitat for Humanity through Giveback Homes you won't just give this family a new and safe home, but better health, education, security, safe materials, longevity, income generation, financial education, training and gender empowerment.
