What Realtors Need to Know About Millennials

Millennials, in the 18-35 year-old demographic, make up one-third of our current day U.S  population. And according to Sherry Chris, CEO of Better Homes & Garden, over 70 percent of surveyed Millennials said they’d like to buy a home in the next two to three years.  Makes sense since the leading edge of Millennials are now approaching their peak earning years. This article by Yahoo! Finance tells us Millennials are looking for “lifestyle” and “community” when it comes to their first home, and even refer to this demographic as “the next real estate boom.”

While Millenials are usually labeled with negative stereotypes — like narcissistic, fame-obsessed and self interested — take this cover of TIME as an example. There is at least one extremely commendable trait about Millennials… They are the giving generation. According to Dr. Stephen Graves, Millennials are hot-wired with a deep appetite for giving back. These guys are seeking out apparel and shoes that are socially responsible and willing to pay more for them. They’re going on voluntourism trips, and even starting their own companies that give back.
