A Home for the Nolasco Family in Sacramento

April 23rd, 2015

The Nolasco Family – Sacramento, CA

Jose and Leticia Nolasco have 2 children – Diego (10yrs old) and Jazlyn (3yrs old). Jose works in construction. For the past several years, the family has been living in a 700 square foot, 2-bedroom rental home which has poor conditions and suffers from mold.

Says Jose, “It’s really hard. As a parent, you want to provide a house for your family, you want to be able to leave something behind for your children, but we couldn’t afford it.”

Jose and Leticia both worked extremely hard putting in over 500 hours of sweat equity to make their dream of owning a home for their family a reality.

Though the family finished their required hours over a month ago, Leticia has still continued to come out multiple times a week to work alongside the volunteers until their home is complete.

Leticia says one of her favorite and proudest moments throughout this process was when she brought her 10-year-old Diego to see the home for the first time, and he burst into tears of joy when he saw his room. “I’ve never seen my son so emotional or so happy." said Leticia, "it made me so happy to see the joy on his face with our new home.”

The family moved into their new home this past weekend on Saturday, April 18th, 2015 and we couldn't be happier for them!
